Emmanuel Connect Groups FAQs
What is a Connect Group?
A Connect Group is a group of 6 to 15 people meeting weekly in spiritual community in order to grow closer to God. For that reason, we ask groups to limit their personal freedom and abstain from alcohol (or similar) and secular music/movies within group interactions.
What is a Connect Group HOST?
A group host is not a Bible expert or church leader. They are normal people willing to open their home and invite others, from their circles of connection for Biblical community. Training will be provided for those who want to move beyond hosting into leading, multiplying and coaching groups.
I’m new to Emmanuel…what’s the best group for me to start with?
You can select a group by using the group finder on the website (emmanuelcc.org) or by filling out a form to help find a group. Otherwise, consider starting your own group with people in your relational circles and we will help with the curriculum.
Do groups provide childcare?
Some groups are labeled “child friendly,” which means that children are welcome to attend the group.
Will group participants have to pray in front of people?
No one is singled out to do anything in front of the group. All participation is determined by the individual.
How long does a group last?
Groups last about 90 minutes to two hours. We understand that your time is precious, so group hosts begin and end on time. Online groups last 45 minutes to an hour.
Should I bring a Bible?
Yes! If you do not have a Bible, Emmanuel will provide you one at the altar.
Did Jesus have a Connect Group?
Yes! Luke 6:13 says, “Jesus called his disciples to Himself and from them he chose twelve.”
