Beliefs and Doctrine

Our core beliefs tell the story of who we are and why we’re here. These beliefs inspire our gatherings every week, shape the life change that we are pursuing, and rally us around common causes in our community and world.

the Bible is God's word

We believe the Bible is God’s Word. It tells the truth about who God is and why we’re here. The Bible can be trusted to instruct and guide us in becoming all God created us to be.

2 Timothy 3:15-17; Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21

We're His church

We believe those who follow Christ are his Church which continues to extend Christ’s presence and purposes in the world.

Ephesians 1:22-23; 2:22; 4:15-16

One triune God

We believe in one eternal triune God who created all things. He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is completely loving and holy.

Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 1:1-18; Philippians 2:5-11

Servant leadership

We believe the Church is led by servants called and gifted by God. The four main types of servants are those who plant and establish churches, those who speak special messages from God, those who convince and win others to faith in Christ, and those who care for and teach believers.

Ephesians 4:11-13

Our choice

We believe our choices have disconnected us from God and his purposes for us.

Genesis 1-3; Romans 5:12-19

God's Spirit is active

We believe God’s Spirit is active in the world today in the ways he was in Jesus and his first followers.

Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12-14; James 5:14-16

Jesus is both man and God

We believe Jesus Christ as both God and man reconciles us to God. Jesus lived a sinless life, died on the Cross for us, rose from the dead, and is present among his followers completing his work in them and through them in the world.

John 3:1-16; Romans 10:13-15; Ephesians 2:1-8

We believe that the true life God wants for us becomes ours as we follow Jesus Christ through turning away from self-centered living, surrendering our wills and lives to him, and learning from him how to live life.

Romans 6:1-11; 8:13; Hebrews 12:14

The return of Jesus

We believe Jesus is coming back as he promised, that God will finally transform all things, and that every person will face the truth about his/her life and forever live with the consequences, either fulfilled and in relationship with Christ or suffering an existence without him.

Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 21-22

Water baptism

We believe that in order to live the life God desires, we need to pledge ourselves to follow Christ in relationship with others through water baptism. We're also be filled with God’s Spirit who empowers us to live and to serve others through the use of spiritual gifts.
